SUCCESS OF CAP
CAP estimates that prior to the launch of the initiative, there were an average of 130 contact crimes* per month in our areas of operation. This figure was calculated by taking the reported crimes gathered by CAP prior to launch of Glenhazel (GAP), and apportioning these crimes based on the amount of residents in each area. With limited resources at the time, the 20 incidents in GAP is a conservative estimate, the actual number not reported to the then unknown CAP, is believed to be much higher.
*A contact crime is a violent crime where the victim comes face to face with the criminal(s) who is usually armed, and force or threat of force is used.
