CAP deploys additional resources to Emmarentia Greenside to fight cable theft

June 21, 2017

Given the recent increase in cable theft-related crimes in the Emmarentia and Greenside operational areas, CAP deployed additional resources to the area to combat this rise in crime. As a part of this operation, CAP Tactical Officers were patrolling on Barry Hertzog yesterday morning when they noticed a suspicious individual loitering in the area with what appeared to be a bamboo stick.

Upon closer investigation, the Tactical Officers ascertained that the suspect had been using the bamboo stick to cut cables along the street. A pursuit ensued, but unfortunately the suspect eluded apprehension. The tools that were being used was however recovered and subsequently handed over to SAPS.

CAP is working tirelessly with the SAPS and City of Johannesburg in an attempt to irradicate cable theft in our various operational areas. We can’t do it alone however, and we urge residents to report any suspicious activity or properties to our emergency control room on 0861 227 227.
