Last night, whilst proactively patrolling on Brooke Avenue towards Landsdown Road in Bryanston, CAP Tactical Officers were stopped by an individual who appeared to be in distress. Rushing to his aid, the officers determined that the victim had been robbed. It was established that four suspects in a suspect motor vehicle had robbed the victim of his valuables at knifepoint while he was walking in the public space. The officers obtained the suspects’ descriptions and the direction they headed in and quickly identified the suspects fleeing in the suspect motor vehicle.
A short chase ensued resulting in the suspect vehicle driving into a dead end on Dulwich Road. With nowhere to go, the suspects stopped their vehicle and one of the suspects, armed with a firearm, starting firing at the CAP Tactical Officers. A shootout ensued and one suspect was apprehended and handed over to Sandton SAPS. The suspect motor vehicle was recovered on the scene. The remaining suspects fled on foot and are still at large.
CAP's legal team will be following up with the case and will work with SAPS to bring the remaining suspects to book.
Residents are urged to take caution when walking in the public space.
Well done to all involved!
