Two suspects apprehended over the past 48 hours

Theft – Savoy – 3 June 2017

On Saturday morning, the CAP Control Room received a call from a community member to report that they had spotted a suspect stealing items outside a restaurant in Savoy. CAP Tactical Officers were dispatched to the scene and found the suspect fleeing on foot. A pursuit ensued leading to the apprehension of the suspect, who was subsequently handed over to Bramley SAPS. The stolen items were recovered.

 

Vehicle Theft – Melrose – 4 June 2017

Yesterday afternoon, a resident on Jameson Avenue called in a vehicle theft that had occurred at his property to the CAP Control Room. CAP immediately dispatched its tactical officers and SAPS to the scene and a lookout was immediately placed for the vehicle. Backup units were deployed to the area and placed at strategic locations to block off and search the area for the vehicle.

 

A short while later, a patrolling CAP Unit noticed an accident that had occurred on Athol Oaklands Road. The Officers stopped to investigate and discovered that the stolen vehicle had been involved in the accident and that the Metro Police were already on the scene. The suspect was apprehended and handed over to JMPD and SAPS.
