Taxi driver apprehended after hit and run incident in Highlands North

On Sunday, 19 March, a taxi driver skipped a stop street at an intersection in Highlands North, resulting in an accident with another vehicle.

Immediately after the accident occurred, the driver of the taxi sped off in an attempt to flee the scene. A witness to the accident called CAP and a Tactical Unit patrolling nearby arrived within minutes.

 

Upon arrival, CAP’s Tactical Unit spotted the taxi and immediately gave chase. A brief pursuit ensued, resulting in the apprehension of the taxi driver. The taxi driver was found to be driving without a driver’s license and was also under the influence of alcohol. SAPS were contacted and upon arrival took the driver into custody.

 

Well done to all involved.

 

Thankfully there were no injuries in this incident.
