SAPS AND OFF-DUTY CAP MARSHALL ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN GRESSWOLD! FIREARM AND SUSPECT MOTOR VEHICLE
On Wednesday morning CAP’s Command Centre received a call reporting a helicopter circling several areas. Following this, an off-duty CAP Marshall was driving past an address in Berkswell Road, Gresswold when he noticed police chasing suspects and proceeded to assist.
A white Toyota Corolla, with three suspects, were fleeing from police. One suspect, armed with a firearm, debussed from the suspect vehicle and jumped into a nearby property. A shootout ensued between the armed suspect and police, resulting in the suspect dropping the firearm and fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. The other two suspects attempted to get away in the suspect motor vehicle but SAPS were able to apprehend them before they could leave.
The two suspects were arrested and the vehicle and firearm were recovered. CAP will be working closely with SAPS to further track the third suspect.
Well done to the SAPS members involved who bravely and successfully worked to take these criminals off our streets. Congratulations also goes to our off-duty CAP Marshall who answered the call to keep our community safe, no matter the circumstances.
