TWO MORE SUSPECTS CAUGHT IN THE (LPR) LICENCE PLATE RECOGNITION CAMERAS WEB!
CAP’s (LPR) Licence Plate Recognition cameras snapped up two suspicious vehicles earlier this afternoon in the Craighall environment in two separate locations. CAP’s responders sprung into action which led to two suspects being arrested!
The first occurrence involved a white Toyota Corolla seen on Jan Smuts Avenue. Tactical Vehicles were quickly dispatched to the scene and managed to identify the vehicle parked in the road. The vehicle was without occupants but Tactical Units closely monitored the vehicle until the driver returned. The driver was immediately detained and handed over to SAPS. The vehicle was also recovered and has been linked to a major criminal act in the past.
Around 40 minutes later the LPR system flagged a white Toyota Conquest on Jan Smuts Avenue and the Command Centre dispatched Tactical Vehicles to strategic locations in the area to find the vehicle. The Conquest was eventually ensnared in CAP’s web and pulled over on York Street. SAPS were contacted and the suspect along with the vehicle were handed over. The vehicle has been linked to a case of vehicle theft.
CAP’s Legal Team will closely monitor both cases, in conjunction with SAPS, to see that the suspects get processed correctly under the legal system
Well done to all involved!
