This morning, the ICCC received a phone call from a source advising that a vehicle, that was stolen two days ago in Alberton, had since been spotted in Alexandra. The registration plates were checked by the ICCC and it was verified that it was indeed a stolen vehicle. The case number and details of the incident were obtained and CAP and SAPS consulted on the matter. On Tuesday night, 30th September 2014, the ICCC received information that a vehicle had been spotted that was believed to have been hijacked. The ICCC immediately went to the Police, where it was confirmed that the vehicle was indeed hijacked. The vehicle was watched for 2 days to try and determine who the hijackers were and where they could be found. Two suspects were arrested in the early hours of the morning on the 6th August 2014, during a joint operation between CAP, SAPS and other forces. The suspects are believed to be involved in home invasions in CAP and non-CAP areas. Two unlicensed firearms and ammunition were recovered as well as two vehicles, all confirmed to be involved in the home invasions.
